Abstract. Damiri N, Pujiastuti Y, Mulawarman, Astuti DT, Afriani SR, Rahim SE. 2022. Short Communication: Biological control agent for Spodoptera litura on vegetable plants. Biodiversitas 23: 2609-2613. This study aimed to assess the population dynamics of Bacillus thuringiensis and its potency as a bio-agent against litura. The field was conducted in Musi Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Isolation exploration B. were carried out by taking soil around roots or rhizosphere fruit results showed that 13 isolates thuringiensis, i.e., 1 isolate from Lansium domesticum (D1), 3 Artocarpus heterophyllus (N1,2,3), Averrhoa carambola (B1), 4 Nephelium lappaceum (R1,2,3,4), Musa paradisiaca (P1), Mangifera indica (M1), Garcinia mangostana (M2) Psidium guajava (JB1) isolated various tree. screening test R2 R3 had highest toxicity, 51.14 50.77%, respectively, controlling S.

Effects of Four Host Plants on Biology and Food Utilization of the Cutworm, Spodoptera litura
Effects of four host plants, tobacco, Chinese cabbage, cowpea and sweet potato, on larval and pupal development and survival, and longevity and fecundity of adults of Spodoptera litura (F) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), were studied under laboratory conditions (26 degrees C, 60-80% RH), as was the utilization of the four host plants and adaptation on tobacco. All of the biological parameters include...
متن کاملSpatial variation in foliar chemicals within radish (Raphanus sativus) plants and their effects on performance of Spodoptera litura.
Foliar chemicals are variable within a plant and this may affect herbivore feeding preference. This study was carried out to quantify concentrations of primary (nitrogen, water, and total nonstructural carbohydrates) and secondary substances (sinigrin) in young and old leaves of Raphanus sativus L. and to evaluate performance and survival of a generalist herbivore Spodoptera litura F. feeding o...
متن کاملSpodoptera litura nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV-S) as a component in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) of Spodoptera litura (Fab.) on cabbage
Field tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of Spodoptera litura (Fab.) nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPVS) alone and in combination with endosulfan and neemarin (neem seed kernel extract) against S. litura in cabbage. Treatment with NPV-S (500 LE/ha) + Endosulfan (625 ml/ha) was better in reducing the larval population and increasing yield than other treatments. However, considering cost b...

20-Hydroxyecdyone (20E), an active form of ecdysteroid, is the key hormone in insect growth and development. To date five P450 enzymes involved in the last four steps of ecdysteroid biosynthesis from ketodiol to 20E namely Spook (Spo), Phantom (Phm), Disembodied (Dib), Shadow (Sad) and Shade (Shd) related to ecdysteroid biosynthesis, are identified and the character of last four enzymes is well...
متن کاملLinking Life Table and Predation Rate for Biological Control: A Comparative Study of Eocanthecona furcellata (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) Fed on Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae).
To better understand the predator-prey relationship and to compare predation rates, we studied the life table and predation rate of the predator Eocanthecona furcellata Wolff (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) when reared on two major crucifer pests, Spodoptera litura (F.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and Plutella xylostella L. (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). The net reproductive rate, intrinsic rate of increas...
